Four Deacons Advance on First Day of ITA Carolina Regional

CARY, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's tennis team had four players advance to the round of 32 of singles during the opening day of main draw play at the ITA Carolina Regional at the Cary Tennis Center. Jon Ho, Skander Mansouri, Christian Seraphim and Keivon Tabrizi all won two singles matches on Friday to advance.
Ho, the tournament's No. 3 seed, posted straight-set wins over Shoti Meparidze of NC State and Yancy Dennis of South Carolina. Mansouri, the No, 6 seed, followed a three-set win over Gianlucca Massa of UNCW with a straight-set win over Alan Poric of Wofford. No. 11 Seraphim had two straight-set wins, downing Shamael Chaudhry of Davidson and Rick Timmerman of Coastal Carolina. Tabrizi upset 10th-seeded Alexandre Favrot of Clemson in the first round before defeating Daniel McCall of Duke in the second round.
Maksim Kan upset 12th-seeded Santtu Leskinen of UNCW in the opening round, but fell later in the day to Daffra Sanon of Clemson. Anthony Delcore followed a first round loss with a victory in the opening round of the consolation draw.
The tournament continues Saturday in Cary with the third round of singles and the first two round of doubles.
