Deacs Earn No. 2 Seed in ACC Tournament

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team earned the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament, the league announced on Saturday.

Wake Forest went 4-2 in league play this season to tie North Carolina for second in the league standings. The Demon Deacons earned the second seed with a tiebreaker after defeating UNC on Friday at Kentner Stadium.

The Deacs will face the seventh-seeded Boston College Eagles in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament hosted by Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. The game will be played at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5. The Demon Deacons are currently ranked No. 7 in the NFHCA Poll, while the Eagles sit at No. 14.

Earlier this season Wake Forest topped Boston College 3-2 at Kentner Stadium. Wake Forest stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the first half and held off Boston College in the second half as the Eagles scored twice.

Wake Forest has won four ACC Field Hockey Championships including last season. The Deacs also won in 2002, 2003 and 2006. The Demon Deacons overall record in the ACC Tournament is 23-26.
