CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Wake Forest's best run in the ITA Carolina Regional singles draw since 2007 ended Sunday in the semifinals, as freshman Anna Ulyashchenko fell to No. 1-seed Hayley Carter of North Carolina in two sets.
Ulyashchenko, who has posted an 8-2 record thus far as a Demon Deacon, became the first Demon Deacon to reach the singles semifinals since Sasha Kulikova did in 2007. In the match, Ulyashchenko fell 6-3, 6-1 to Carter. The loss marks her first loss since falling to Katya Vasilyev of Boston College in her first collegiate match last month.
Wake Forest will participate in one more fall tournament in 2015, traveling next weekend from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 to Knoxville, Tennessee, for the Tennessee Invite. After that, the Deacs open their spring season on Jan. 18, 2016, at home against College of Charleston and Winthrop.
