WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior goalkeeper Valerie Dahmen earned her third ACC Defensive Player of the Week accolade of the season, the league announced Tuesday.
Dahmen was selected as the Co-Defensive Player of the Week along with Boston College's Leah Settipane.
Dahmen tied a season high with 11 saves in the win over No. 3 North Carolina to secure the No. 2 seed for the Demon Deacons in the ACC Championship. The senior goalkeeper from Duisburg, Germany, made five saves in the first half while keeping UNC off the board and allowing Wake Forest to build a 3-0 lead. The victory was the first for the Demon Deacons over the Tar Heels since 2008.
Dahmen is second in the ACC and 24th in the NCAA with 5.6 saves per game this season. Her .771 save percentage is third in the ACC and 13th nationally.
Dahmen was also named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15 and Sept. 29.
