Deacons Post Strong Singles Play at Tennessee Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After posting five singles victories yesterday, Wake Forest continued its strong play on Saturday with five more against Arizona State at the Tennessee Invite.
Freshman standout Emma Davis also notched a strong win at the first position, coming back from a second-set loss to defeat Stephanie Vlad. Davis went ahead in the first set 6-3, but Vlad battled back to take the second set, 6-1. It came down to a tiebreaker in the final set, and Davis converted 7-3 to take the match by a score of 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(3).
Kimmy Guerin posted the biggest victory of the day with a straight-sets win over No. 26 Desirae Krawczyk on court two. Guerin prevailed by a 6-2, 6-2 score. The Demon Deacons also won on courts four, five, and six to close out the day.
On the doubles side against Ohio State, Wake Forest fell in the three matches it played.
The Deacons will take on Tennessee in singles at 1p.m. to finish out action in Knoxville.
