Deacs Continue Excellent Showing at ITA All-Americans

ITA All-American Championships Pre-Qualifying Singles Results

TULSA, Okla. -- Wake Forest men's tennis players posted a 5-2 record on the second day of the Saint Francis Health Systems ITA All-American Championships on Sunday, putting two players in pre-qualifying singles finals with the chance to win their way into the qualifying draw.
Both Maksim Kan and Keivon Tabrizi picked up two victories Sunday, winning their Round of 128 and Round of 64 matches. Kan topped Alp Horoz of Northwestern 6-3, 6-2 before beating William Albanese of Arkansas by the score of 6-4, 6-4. Tabrizi also beat an opponent from Arkansas in his first match of the day, defeating the Razorbacks' David Herrerias 6-3, 6-3 before topping Diego Nunez of East Tennessee State 6-3, 6-4.
No. 17-32-seed Sam Bloom picked up a win in his first match of the day in beating Notre Dame's Eddy Covalschi in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, but dropped a tough 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (2) decision in the Round of 64 against David Fox of Denver. Anthony Delcore dropped his Round of 128 contest against No. 17-32-seed Jordi Arconada of Texas A&M by the score of 6-4, 6-0.
With victories on Monday, Kan would move on to the qualifying bracket and take on Wake Forest's Christian Seraphim in the first round while Tabrizi would battle Maciek Romanowicz of Stanford. The two would join Seraphim, Skander Mansouri and No. 14-seed Jon Ho in the qualifying bracket. Mansouri is set to take on No. 17-240-seed Fred Gelbrich of San Diego State while Ho will battle Samuel Monette of Indiana.
Action in the tournament is set to resume on Monday, starting at 8 a.m. at the University of Tulsa.
