KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Wake Forest men's soccer freshman Jack Harrison added another major award to his list of accolades during the 2015 season on Friday, as the midfielder was named an NSCAA First Team All-American.
Harrison is the only freshman to have made any of the three All-American teams and is one of seven underclassmen on the three teams. The honor also marks the first NSCAA All-American for the Demon Deacons since Corben Bone, Sam Cronin and Marcus Tracy were named honorees in 2008.
"From the time he stepped on campus for preseason throughout the entire season, Jack proved to be a big piece of our game plan and he's very deserving of this honor," said head coach Bobby Muuss. "His determination to succeed is infectious and we're excited to watch him grow even more here at Wake Forest."
Already this season, Harrison has been named ACC Offensive Player and Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-ACC and ACC All-Freshman Team selection. This week, he was named a NSCAA All-South Region honoree. A semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, Harrison won the fan vote online by more than 1,000 votes over the second place finisher, Julian Buescher of Syracuse. Finalists for college soccer's top honor are scheduled to be announced Friday night by the organization.
The freshman from Bolton, England, scored eight goals and had 11 assists for 27 points this season. His 11 assists and 27 points broke the program's freshman records while the assist total ranks tied for sixth on the program's list of single season assists. With eight goals as a rookie, Harrison tied Rob Burt and Michael Gamble's total for fourth-most all-time by a freshman.
