WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Following a hard-fought 1-0 setback at No. 10 Akron on Friday night, the Wake Forest men's soccer team remains in Ohio for its second road match of the season, traveling to Bowling Green on Monday, Aug. 31. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium.

The Demon Deacons (1-1-1) held the nationally ranked Zips scoreless for more than 83 minutes before Akron found the breakthrough in the 84th minute. Wake Forest will look to bounce back against a Bowling Green squad that enters Monday's match with a 1-2 record.

Monday night's matchup against the Falcons will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live stats will also be available here throughout the match.

MATCHUP NOTES

Monday will mark the first all-time meeting between Wake Forest and Bowling Green.
It will be Wake Forest's fourth all-time match against a current member of the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Demon Deacons are 2-1-0 all-time against current MVC members, with both wins coming against Bradley.
- Wake Forest's most recent matchup against an MVC opponent came on Aug. 29, 2021, a 2-0 victory over the Braves in Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest will look to secure its first non-conference road win since its 4-1 defeat of UNCW on Oct. 15, 2024.

LAST TIME OUT

Wake Forest suffered its first loss of the 2026 season Friday night, falling 1-0 to No. 10 Akron at FirstEnergy Stadium.
- The Demon Deacons and Zips played to a scoreless halftime draw before Akron's Noa Testa scored the lone goal at 83:06.
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Jonah Mednard made five saves, including three in the first half, to keep the match scoreless for more than 83 minutes.
- Mednard made two particularly important second-half stops, denying Akron's Kossehasse in the 55th minute and Sullivan in the 73rd minute.
Wake Forest generated several of its best chances late, with Tate Lorentz forcing a save in the 76th minute before sending another attempt just high in the 81st.
Following Akron's goal, the Deacs continued to push for an equalizer, with Ethan Subachan sending an attempt high and Joby Reid putting a shot wide in the 89th minute.
Daniel Krueger and Mason Sullivan each played all 90 minutes for the second consecutive match, while Copeland Berkley went the full distance for the first time in his career.
Despite the result, head coach Bobby Muuss praised the team's competitiveness, specifically highlighting its grit, tracking back in transition and ability to hunt the ball.

STARTED OFF WITH A BANG

Wake Forest opened the 2026 season with a 4-2 victory over San Francisco on Aug. 20 at Spry Stadium.
Senior captain Jeffrey White scored twice for the first multi-goal performance of his career, including the equalizing goal in the 21st minute and the insurance goal in the 77th.
Senior midfielder Jose Perez added a goal from the penalty spot and an assist, marking the first multi-goal contribution game of his career.
Freshman Philip Biskupski scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the 58th minute, while fellow newcomer Ronnie Garcia recorded his first collegiate assist on a perfectly weighted ball into the box.
Eight Demon Deacons made their Wake Forest debuts, including Biskupski, Garcia, Joby Reid, Luke Kirilenko, Marcos Miranda, Henry Rosenfeld, Oliver Kurnik and Will Kuisel.
Wake Forest controlled 61 percent of possession and held advantages in shots (18-14) and corner kicks (6-4).
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Jonah Mednard made four saves, including three in the second half, to help the Deacs hold San Francisco scoreless over the final 64 minutes.
The four goals marked Wake Forest's most in a season opener since a 5-1 victory over Rutgers in 2017.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS

Bowling Green enters Monday's match with a 1-2-0 overall record, including a 1-0 mark at home.
The Falcons opened the season with a 5-2 victory over Wright State on Aug. 20 before falling 3-0 at Duquesne and 1-0 at IU Indy.
Trace Terry leads Bowling Green with two goals, both coming in the Falcons' season-opening win.
- Terry's brace moved him tied for fifth in Bowling Green program history with 30 career goals after back-to-back 10-plus goal seasons.
Tyson McCoy and Lukas Brinkman each recorded a goal and an assist in the opener.
