DEACS RETURN TO ACTION AGAINST UNCG
• Wake Forest returns from an 11-day break for exams by hosting UNCG
• The Deacs are looking for their fourth consecutive win, which would be the team's longest streak of the Manning era
• Since Wake Forest moved to Winston-Salem in the mid-1950s, the Deacs are undefeated (29-0) against their Piedmont Triad neighbors (8-0 vs. UNCG, 8-0 vs. Elon, 5-0 vs. High Point, 4-0 vs. North Carolina A&T and 4-0 vs. Winston-Salem State)
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
• Tonight's game is Wake Forest's annual "Make A Difference" Cancer Awareness night
• The Deacs are wearing special pink-trimmed uniforms to show their appreciation for those who have fought against breast cancer
• Money raised during a silent auction will benefit the North Carolina Triad affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure
SERIES HISTORY
• Demon Deacons have won all eight previous matchups with UNCG, including the six previous games at the Coliseum
• The last meeting came in 2013-14, a 59-51 Wake victory in Winston-Salem, as Devin Thomas led the Deacs with 12 points and 13 rebounds
• The last three meetings at the Coliseum have all been single-digit margins
DOUBLE FIGURE DEACS
• Wake Forest has five players averaging double figure scoring, led by Devin Thomas (18.6 ppg), who has scored at least 12 points in every game this season, including five 20-point games
• Eight different Deacons have already had a double-figure scoring game
• Against Vanderbilt, John Collins (14 pts) and Trent VanHorn (12 pts) both had career-high performances off the bench, the first time since an 88-84 win over NC State on Feb. 4, 2015 that Wake has had a pair of double-figure performances from reserves
• Wake has eight double-figure scoring performances off the bench this season, compared to just four through eight games last year
WINNING THE CLOSE ONES
• Wake Forest is 5-0 this season in games decided by five points or less, defeating UMBC, Indiana, UCLA, Rutgers and Arkansas
• The last time the Deacons were undefeated in their first five games of a season decided by five points or less was in 1998-99 (over the first 26 games of the season)
• The last time at least five of Wake's first eight games of season were decided by five points or less was in 1985-86 during the first year of the Bob Staak era, as six of eight were close games, with the Deacons posting a 4-2 record in those games
• Last season the Deacs were 5-5 in games decided by five points or less
UP NEXT
• The Deacons host Coastal Carolina on Friday at the Coliseum
• Wake leads the all-time series, 2-1, with all games in Winston-Salem
• The teams haven't met since 1998-99, a 73-46 Deacon victory
