Wake Forest Head Coach Danny Manning
Opening Statement...
"I thought UNCG came out and was very active and played well. I thought they played very well in the first half. We have to come out and do a much better job than we did tonight. We're very fortunate to get the win. We're happy about the win, but we have a lot of work that we need to do to become the team that we could potentially become."
On the return of Codi Miller-McIntyre...
"I'm not worried about Codi. He's going to work himself back; he'll be fine. Tonight was just a game that I wanted to ease him back into it, and we accomplished that. This is the first time that some of these guys have played with Codi in a game. There is still going to be an adjustment period, but I'm definitely happy to have him back out on the court. He just brings an element that we don't have with his athleticism, the way he guards and the way he pushes the ball in transition."
On player rotation...
"My rotation pattern is easy. If you play hard and help us be successful, you play. If you don't, you sit on the bench. It's not hard. They understand that. If you don't play hard you'll have a seat on the bench. That's the rotation."
On Devin Thomas' influence...
"A lot of our guys need to take queues from Devin. Devin plays hard. There was a stretch there where we were picking up full court and he's helping shadow the point guard, he's trapping the point guard, he's sprinting back down the court to cover his man and he's playing ball-screen defense. We tell a lot of our guys, particularly our young bigs, you compete up against Devin in practice every day. Some of that should show when you step out on the court because he plays like this every day. We've just got some work to do to reach the ceiling we can possibly get to."
UNC Greensboro Head Coach Wes Miller
On playing Wake Forest...
"Hats go off to Danny and his bunch tonight. We were in here a couple of years ago and he and his staff have done a tremendous job recruiting. We were watching the film going into the game and they are a talented bunch. They are a young bunch too, like us. They are really talented and to see some of the wins they had this year early on in Maui and then here against Arkansas at home, we knew this would be a tough task to come into Winston and play. That said, I was really proud of my bunch tonight."
On Senior Kayel Locke...
"He hasn't been shooting it that well and he's a guy that we think can score the ball and do a lot of things. It was really good to see the ball go in for him tonight and he played with a lot of effort. He got on the floor for two loose balls that I really thought kept us in the game in the first half."
Wake Forest Senior Guard Codi Miller-McIntyre
On his performance in first game back...
"It looked like a lot of people expected, a little rusty, especially in the first half. The turnovers came from not being aggressive. I don't believe I turned it over in the second half when I played. Defensively, I think I played well, getting into the positions I was supposed to be."
On whether or not he felt tentative...
"Not tentative in terms of trusting my foot--it was more so just trying to get in the flow of the offense. I was being too passive, not coming off ball screens hard enough. That's how I got two of my turnovers, just not coming off the ball screen hard enough."
On whether or not he was able to shoot while he had his cast...
"I did a lot of form shooting, even sitting down and when I had the scooter. I couldn't resist to shoot on it. But it was a lot of ball-handling drills while sitting down."
On whether there was any pain of discomfort in his foot...
"There's a little soreness, but the doctor says that was to be expected. When I saw the x-rays, that was all I really needed for me to stop babying it."
