
Newak, Dahmen Earn NFHCA All-America Honors

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Seniors Jess Newak and Valerie Dahmen have been named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America Team as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) on Monday. Newak earned Second Team honors, while Dahmen landed on the Third Team.
This is the first All-America honor for both Newak and Dahmen.
Newak was a First Team All-South Region selection in 2015 after being named to the second team a year ago. She was also a First Team All-ACC selection and was picked to the NFHCA Div. I Senior Game. Newak led the team with 32 points on 12 goals and eight assists this season. She tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals.
Dahmen finished the season with 103 saves to earn her first career All-South Region honor. She ranked in the top five in the ACC in goals against average (1.73), save percentage (.757) and saves per game (5.42). Her save percentage was ranked 14th in the NCAA. She was a three-time ACC Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2015. Dahmen also represented Wake Forest in the NFHCA Div. I Senior Game.
