DURHAM, N.C. - The Wake Forest Demon Deacons fell to the No. 3-ranked Duke Blue Devils, 94-51 on Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Leading the way for Wake Forest (13-17, 5-12 ACC), Codi Miller-McIntyre had a team-high 20 points, dished out five assists, and grabbed four rebounds. Mitchell Wilbekin also finished in double figures with 11 points and went 3-5 from 3-point range and grabbed four rebounds.
In addition for the Deacons, Aaron Rountree III finished with six points, which included a putback dunk and a fast break jam. Adding to the scoring for the starters, Konstantinos Mitoglou tabbed five points, and Darius Leonard added four points.
No. 3 Duke (27-3, 14-3 ACC) were led by Grayson Allen who scored 27 points for the Blue Devils. Four other players finished in double figures for the host.
Duke started the game with a 12-0 run capped off by a three-pointer by Tyus Jones with 15:54 remaining to create a 12-0 lead. After Wilbekin scored five straight points to cut into make the score 12-5, The Blue Devils mounted a 10-0 run to take a 22-5 lead 11:28. Duke would outscore the Deacs 30-10 the rest of the half to take a 52-15 lead at the break.
Wake Forest started the second half with an 8-3 run capped off by a Mitoglou trey from the left corner to cut into the deficit 55-23 at the 18:11 mark. Duke answered and got their largest lead of the game with a 74-33 lead with 10:48 left in the game. The third-ranked Blue Devils would close out the game and defeat the Demon Deacons 94-51.
