Wake Forest Set For Home-And-Home >>
Wake Forest returns to Winston-Salem for a home game sandwiched between eight road games on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. against Davidson. Tuesday's game was postponed and Wednesday's was shifted from Davidson to Winston-Salem.
Presidential First Pitch >>
Wake Forest President Dr. Nathan Hatch is throwing the first pitch before Wednesday's game.
The tradition of presidents throwing first pitches began 105 years ago, on April 14, 1910, when President Taft threw out the first pitch at an MLB game. Since then, every president has thrown at least one first pitch.
To celebrate the occasion, the first 100 students to attend will receive free mini pitchers.
Last Time Out >>
Wake Forest dropped a weekend series to Pitt. The Panthers claimed games on Friday, 8-3, and Sunday, 8-4. Wake Forest won the Saturday contest, 12-4.
On Saturday, the Demon Deacons drilled eight extra-base hits, while Connor Johnstone tossed a career-high 8.0 innings in the win.
Stuart Fairchild finished Saturday's game 4-for-4 with two doubles and a career-high five RBIs.
Nate Mondou finished the weekend 6-for-15 with three doubles and a triple, while Gavin Sheets went 3-for-6 with a double, homer and two walks.
Rookie Year To Remember >>
Stuart Fairchild has gotten off to an impressive start to his Wake Forest career. He's second on the team with a .370 average, which would rank sixth-best among freshmen in program history.
He also ranks in the top 10 for freshmen with nine stolen bases, and sits just outside the top 10 with 11 doubles, five homers, 34 RBIs, 51 hits and 26 runs scored.
In his first weekend at Wake Forest, he reached base in 10 consecutive plate apperances.
He also recently had a 17-game hitting streak snapped.
Series History >>
Wake Forest leads the all-time series against the Wildcats, 54-13.
The teams met last year for the first time since 2009, with each team claiming a home victory.
Last year, the Deacons won at home via a Kevin Conway walkoff hit by pitch in the 12th inning.
On Deck >>
The Deacons close out the road stretch with a three-game ACC series at Louisville from Friday-Sunday, and a Tuesday contest at Charlotte on Tuesday.
