Guerin Named All-ACC Third Team Performer

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Kimmy Guerin of the Wake Forest women's tennis team has been recognized as an All-Atlantic Coast Conference third-team member, the league announced Wednesday morning.
Finishing her second season with the Demon Deacons, this marks the first time the sophomore has been named an All-ACC performer. She was named ACC Player of the Week on March 18 and was the only Wake Forest player to earn the award this season.
Between the spring and fall seasons, Guerin has posted a 22-14 singles record to lead the team in wins. This spring in dual-match singles play, Guerin has earned a team-high 14 victories, all of which have come at the No. 1 spot. With three wins against ranked foes this season, Guerin leads the Deacs in victories over nationally-ranked opponents
On the doubles circuit, Guerin has posted an overall 14-4 record with an 11-3 mark at the No. 2 position. Last week after posting three wins in four matches, Guerin and partner Kasey Gardiner moved to No. 76 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings in a tie with Ball State's Rosalinda Calderon and Courtney Earnest. Together this season, Guerin and Gardiner have posted a 6-1 mark and have won each of their last four matches overall.
Jamie Loeb of North Carolina was named ACC Player of the Year for the second year in a row while her coach, Brian Kalbas, was named Coach of the Year. Sinead Lohan of Miami earned Freshman of the Year.
Guerin and the Demon Deacons will open the ACC Championships this afternoon at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.
