DURHAM, N.C. - Wake Forest wrapped up the 2015 regular season with an 8-1 loss to Duke at Jack Coombs Field on Saturday.

The Demon Deacons end the season with an overall record of 27-26 and 12-18 in ACC play. With the loss Wake Forest will not make the ACC Championship.. Duke finished the season with a record of 31-22 overall and 10-19 in ACC play and also failed to qualify for the ACC Tournament.

Duke's Jalen Phillips led off the second inning with a solo homer off Wake Forest starter John McCarren. McCarren took the loss after allowing just the one run in two innings of work. In the fourth inning Phillips doubled and came around to score. Duke added another run, both off reliever Donnie Sellers to push the lead to 3-0. Parker Dunshee allowed one run in the fifth and the Deacs trailed 4-0.

Wake Forest broke through with run in the top of the seventh. Stuart Fairchild drew a bases loaded walk to score Joey Rodriguez but the next batter, Justin Yurchak struck out to end the threat. In the bottom half of the inning Duke scored three runs to put the game out of reach, 7-1.

Jonathan Pryor went 3-for-5 with a double in the game. Rodriguez and Fairchild (2-for-4) each had two hits in the game.

Bailey Clark got the win for Duke and improved to 4-5 on the season. He went 4-1/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
