WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - With three strong additions to the Wake Forest volleyball program from the 2015 recruiting class, the Demon Deacons' class has earned High Honorable Mention from PrepVolleyball.com.
The 2015 class includes three players from three different regions of the country in Rachel Burau of Wheaton, Illinois, Katie Moore of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Hailey McFadden of Holly Springs, North Carolina.
Moore, who played high school volleyball at Clearwater Central Catholic and club for Pinellas Heat Elite, is a middle blocker who was named Pinellas County Player of the Year in her final season with Clearwater Central. In her time with the Marauders, she helped them to the 3A State Championship as a senior while helping the squad to the district championship each of her four years with the team.
Burau joins the Demon Deacons from Wheaton Warrenville South High School. Ranked No. 82 in PrepVolleyball.com's list of the top seniors in the class, the setter was named a team captain at Wheaton Warrenville South each of her final two seasons while being a captain three of her four years with her club team, Sports Performance Volleyball Club. She finished her career with the best hitting percentage in school history at .567 and placed third on the all-time assists list.
McFadden comes to Wake Forest after attending Wake Christian Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina. Also a member of Triangle Volleyball Club Black, she has played both outside hitter and libero throughout her career. With Triangle, she was named to PrepVolleyball.com's Top 150 Senior Ace list while earning Defensive Dandy in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Wake Forest opens the season with three tournaments on the road, starting with the Rambler Challenge hosted by Loyola University of Chicago on Aug. 28. The Deacs return nine players, including three starters, from the 2014 squad that went 16-16. Off the court the team posted an impressive 3.4 GPA, which ranked second among programs that compete in the fall.
