WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women's tennis recruit Emma Davis polished off her high school career last week by winning her fourth-straight MIAA state championship.

A five-star recruit out of Cohasset High School in Cohasset, Massachusetts, Davis is one of three players joining the Demon Deacons for the 2015-16 season with Anna Ulyashchenko from Brooklyn, New York, and Joanna Zalewski out of Linden, New Jersey. Together, the trio helped Wake Forest earn the No. 7-ranked class in Tennis Recruiting Network's spring list of top recruiting classes in the country, which is the highest mark in the spring rankings in program history.

With her fourth state championship, Davis became the first player in state history – male or female – to win the title in Massachusetts four times.

In her career at Cohasset, Davis posted a perfect 84-0 record. Even more impressive, she did it without dropping a single set along the way. At Wake Forest, she will join rising junior Kimmy Guerin, who also won four Connecticut state championships without losing a set during her four-year run at Weston High School. Guerin was the second player in Connecticut history to win four state championships without dropping a set, following in the footsteps of Patty Murren, who played for the Demon Deacons from 1993-96.

Earlier last month, Davis won the New England US Open National Playoff Sectional Qualifying event held at Yale University Tennis Center. As the tournament's No. 1 seed, Davis topped No. 2 Carol Finke, a rising sophomore at Yale, by the score of 6-1, 6-1 to win the tournament. The victory earned her a spot in the US Open National Playoff Championship in New Haven, Connecticut, which will begin Aug. 21. The winner of the singles championship in New Haven will earn a wild card entry to compete in the US Open Qualifying Tournament.
