WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest went through a two-hour practice on Wednesday morning as preseason camp nears the midway point. Practicing at the Doc Martin Football Practice Complex in full gear, the Deacons worked on individual drills and ran live plays on Wednesday morning.
Head coach Dave Clawson called Wednesday morning's practice "spirited."
"We got some good physical work in," said Clawson. "We've been pushing the team pretty hard."
Clawson was asked if the defense had rebounded from Saturday's scrimmage when the offense put up 557 yards of total offense.
"We're a more balanced team than we were last year," said Clawson. "Last year, our better players were on defense. And it wasn't a matter of the defense not trying (on Saturday), we just have better players on offense this year."
The Deacons will hold their final double session of preseason camp on Thursday, Aug. 20 with the squad practicing on campus at 7:45 a.m. The team will conclude the day with a 7 pm evening practice. Friday, the team will practice at 2:30 at the Doc Martin complex.
