Reed Posts 20 Kills in Loss to New Hampshire

CHICAGO - The Wake Forest volleyball team wrapped up play at the Rambler Challenge with a four-set loss to New Hampshire. Senior Matalee Reed led the Demon Deacons with 20 kills and was named to the Rambler Challenge All-Tournament Team.
Wake Forest took set one from the Wildcats by a score of 25-15 but UNH rallied back to win the next three sets 25-19. 25-21, 29-27. Wake Forest and UNH both finish the opening weekend with a 1-2 record.
Reed hit .279 with 20 kills in the match. She averaged 4.5 kills per set for the weekend and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Kylie Long and Sophia Dodd both posted double-doubles on Saturday. Long had 10 kills and 13 digs while Dodd added 38 assists and 11 digs. As a team Wake Forest had 11 service aces, led by Long with five.
Reed was matched all day by New Hampshire's Demi Muses. She finished the day with 18 kills and a .459 attack percentage. She also added eight blocks and seven digs.
In the first set Wake Forest hit .323 with 15 kills and five errors. New Hampshire tightened up the defense in set two and held the Deacs to a .000 attack percentage with nine kills and nine errors. The errors continued to plague Wake Forest in set three and four where the Demon Deacons hit .167 and .217, allowing New Hampshire to win the sets. The Wildcats had 12 blocks to Wake Forest's five in the match.
Wake Forest returns to North Carolina for the next 13 matches. The Deacons will face NC Central, Charleston Southern and Elon at the Phoenix Classic next weekend in Elon, N.C.
