WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -The Wake Forest women's basketball team announced its 2015-16 non-conference schedule on Tuesday. The Demon Deacons will face six teams that went to the postseason a year ago.
"I am extremely excited about this season's non-conference schedule," said head coach Jen Hoover. "We want to be battle tested before we take on our ACC opponents and the best way to do that is to face teams that played in the postseason last year. We believe this schedule will challenge and prepare us for the rigors of the ACC."
Wake Forest will host eight home games at the LJVM Coliseum including the season opener against LSU on Nov. 13. That match up will be part of a double header with the men's basketball team. The Deacs open the season with three-straight home games. After LSU, East Tennessee State (Nov. 15) and Davidson (Nov. 17) will travel to Winston-Salem.
The first road test will come at Missouri on Nov. 22. The Deacs play just two other true road games, at American (Nov. 29) and at Coastal Carolina (Dec. 18). Coastal Carolina is coached by former Wake Forest assistant coach Jaida Williams.
Wake Forest wraps up non-conference play at the FIU Sun & Fun Classic in Miami. The Deacs face Hampton on Dec. 28 and will play either FIU or Rhode Island the following day.
Six opponents on the 2015-16 schedule went to the postseason last year. LSU and American both went to the NCAA Tournament in 2014-15 while Missouri, ETSU, Richmond and Hampton all played in the WNIT.
