
Deacs Close Out First Fall Tournament of 2015

ELON, N.C. -- Wake Forest women's tennis closed out its first tournament of the fall season on Sunday at the Elon Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
As the day started with doubles action, Joanna Zalewski and Andrea Retolaza Andrade dropped an 8-5 decision in the third-place match of the Maroon Doubles flight against Elon's Olivia Lucas and Natalia Janowicz. In the Phoenix Doubles flight, Xue Zhang and Courtney Meredith's run through the bracket came to an end in the finals with an 8-3 loss to Valerie Thong and Evangeline Christ of Liberty.
In singles, Zalewski fell in the finals of the Maroon Singles bracket by the score of 6-4, 6-1 to George Washington's Teodora Radosavljevic. On the consolation side of the Phoenix Singles flight, Meredith dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Elon's Suzanne Zenoni.
The Deacs return to the courts next weekend in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for the Harvard Invitational. The Friday to Sunday tournament is set for Sept. 18-20.
