SKILLMAN, N.J. – In Tuesday's release of the Oracle/ITA Preseason rankings, Wake Forest had two singles players and a doubles duo check in nationally ranked in the Top 75 of both polls.
On the singles side, Romain Bogaerts is ranked No. 11 in the nation while Jon Ho checks in at No. 72. On the doubles side, Christian Seraphim and Skander Mansouri are ranked No. 5 in the nation.
Last season, Bogaerts posted a 26-9 singles record while going 10-1 in conference play. He posted a 17-4 mark at No. 2 singles while going 12-7 against nationally-ranked opponents. Bogaerts has also been named a preseason All-American, earning a spot in the main draw of the 2015 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships, which is slated to start Sept. 30 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Playing primarily at No. 4 singles, Ho posted a 27-13 record on the season while going 5-5 against nationally-ranked players. Ho joins Mansouri and Seraphim as the three Wake Forest players who have earned spots in the singles qualifying draw for the All-American Championships. The qualifying draw is set to begin Sept. 27, also in Tulsa.
Ranked as the No. 1 pairing in the ITA Carolina Regional after the season, Seraphim and Mansouri went 21-9 last year and climbed as high as No. 9 in the ITA poll after starting the season unranked. Playing at the No. 1 spot, the two posted a 17-6 record while going 9-6 against nationally-ranked opponents. Seraphim and Mansouri won 13-straight matches from Feb. 6 to April 10 before falling to Brett Clark and Robert Kelly of North Carolina. The two earned a spot in the main doubles draw of the All-American Championships while Sam Bloom and Anthony Delcore earned a spot in the doubles qualifying draw.
While Keivon Tabrizi is still playing in the Cary Challenger on Tuesday, the Demon Deacons are scheduled to send eight players to three tournaments this weekend, which includes a trip to Malibu, California, for the Oracle/ITA Masters, the year's first national championship event, for Bogaerts. The other two tournaments the Deacs are competing in this weekend are the Duke Fab Four Invitational in Durham, North Carolina, and the UVa Ranked +1 tournament in Charlottesville, Virginia. The three tournaments will take place from Sept. 18-20.
