Bogaerts Set to Take Part in Oracle/ITA Masters
Romain Bogaerts will take part in the 16-player singles draw at the 2015 Oracle/ITA Masters, the first national collegiate championship event of the season.
This year marks the first year of competition for the tournament. It features 16 of the nation's elite men's and women's singles players, plus eight men's and women's doubles duos. The three-day tournament will crown champions on Sunday, Sept. 20.
About the Tournament
The inaugural Oracle/ITA Masters, the first national collegiate championship of the 2015-16 season, will be played from Sept. 18-20 at the renowned Malibu Racquet Club in Malibu, California. Sixteen elite men's and women's singles players, along with eight of the most outstanding men's and women's doubles teams will compete for the championship, with two guaranteed matches for each participant. Pepperdine University will help to facilitate the championships as an official event partner.
Preseason Rankings
With the preseason ITA rankings released this week, Bogaerts checked in at No. 11 in the nation. Other Deacs to be named in the preseason poll included Jon Ho, who ranks No. 72 in the country.
On the doubles side, Christian Seraphim and Skander Mansouri are ranked No. 5 in the preseason doubles poll.
Wake Forest Elsewhere...
While Bogaerts competes in the Masters, multiple Demon Deacons are scheduled to participate in two tournaments on the East coast at the UVa Ranked +1 in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the Duke Bonk Invitational in Durham, North Carolina.
Looking Ahead
Following this weekend's trio of tournaments, the Deacs will compete in two Futures events in California. The first is scheduled for Sept. 21-27 at the Costa Mesa, Ca. Futures tournament, followed by the Laguna Nigel, Ca. Futures event from Sept. 28 through Oct. 4.
After the two Futures events, a handful of Deacs will compete in the ITA All-American Championships from Oct. 3-11 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tulsa is also the site of the 2016 NCAA Team, Singles and Doubles Championships.
