Deacs Round Out First Weekend of Tournaments

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest men's tennis polished off its first weekend of full tournament action on Sunday in the UVa Ranked +1 and the Duke Bonk Invitational.
In Charlottesville, Virginia, for the UVa Ranked +1 tournament, Jon Ho finished third in the Blue Singles flight with a 7-5, 6-3 victory Sunday over Henrik Wiersholm of Virginia. Also in the Blue Singles draw, Keivon Tabrizi topped Jonathan Deautriell of North Florida by the score of 6-4, 6-1 to finish the weekend 2-2 overall.
In the Orange Singles draw, Skander Mansouri won the consolation bracket with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Andreas Bjerrehus of Virginia Tech. Along the way, Mansouri beat Jack Findel Hawkins of North Florida and Jonathan Cornish of Virginia after losing to Piotr Lomacki in the first round of the draw. Christian Seraphim posted a 2-2 record on the weekend in the Orange Singles draw with wins over Louis Ishizaka of VCU and Cornish. He dropped his first two contests to Christian Langmo of Miami and Bjerrehus.
On the doubles side, Mansouri and Seraphim reached the finals of the consolation bracket, but fell to a duo from Kentucky in the Blue Doubles flight. Also in the Blue flight, Tabrizi and Ho paired up and struggled at first, but finished on a high note in beating a duo from VCU.
At the Bonk Invitational in Durham, North Carolina, Maksim Kan reached the finals of the Blue Singles draw, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-4 against Robert Kelly of North Carolina. In the White Singles flight, Sam Bloom won his way into the third-place match but lost the contest 6-4, 6-2 against Eddy Covalschi of Notre Dame.
In doubles, Bloom and Anthony Delcore teamed up to win the consolation bracket with an 8-4 decision in the consolation finals over Josh Levine and Daniel McCall of Duke.
The Demon Deacons have two ITF Futures events on the schedule in the coming weeks. The next tournament Wake Forest is scheduled to compete in is the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from Oct. 3-11.
