The Match-Up
• Wake Forest plays its first of three straight ACC games, traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers in hopes of snapping their six-game winning streak. The Demon Deacons and Panthers square off on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest split a pair of games over the weekend, beating Miami and falling to UNCW. Sarah Medina scored what proved to be the game-winner in a 3-0 win over the Hurricanes on Friday in the ninth-minute and Bayley Feist tallied the first goal of her career in the second half. Wake Forest scored on an own goal, as well. Despite out-shooting UNCW 19-12, including 11-3 in the second half, the Seahawks held off the Deacs for a 2-1 win. Wake Forest put nine shots on frame, including Medina's fourth goal of the year.
• Pitt, on the longest active winning streak in the ACC, has out-scored its opponents (NC State, Akron, Liberty, La Salle, Villanova, Colorado College) 13-2 over that stretch. The Panthers are unbeaten and untied in four home games, as well. Pitt already has three players with double-digit points in Jarena Harmon (5 G, 1 A, 11 pts), Taylor Price (3 G, 4 A, 10 pts) and Roosa Arvas (3 G, 4 A, 10 pts). In goal, Taylor Francis has posted five shutouts and a 0.43 goals-against-average to go along with a .909 save percentage.
Spreading The Wealth
• Wake Forest has scored 13 goals as a team in 2015, coming from eight different scorers, plus an own goal.
• Last year, there were only nine different goal scorers all season, and 11 players recorded a point.
• Eight different Deacs have compiled Wake Forest's 14 assists, with Maddie Huster, Bayley Feist, Sarah Teegarden, Kahla Seymour, Kendal Robino and Kendall Fischlein tallying two apiece. Ten Demon Deacons have at least one point this season.
Medina Heating Up
• Wake Forest sophomore Sarah Medina has been on a tear recently, scoring goals in four of the past six games, including each of the last two.
• She recorded a game-winner for the first time in her career in the ACC-opener against Miami.
• After recording just two points on a pair of assists last year, she has more than quadrupled her points output with nine so far this season.
A Challenging Year
• Wake Forest played eight ranked opponents in the regular season last year, all of them consensus top 25 teams in both the NSCAA and Soccer America. That is the most of any ACC team. This year, the Deacons have games scheduled against eight teams that made the NCAA Tournament a year ago, including six straight from Sept. 27 - Oct. 16.
