Wake Forest Welcomes Virginia
• Wake Forest resumes ACC play with its first home conference match of the season Saturday against Virginia.
• The Deacons and Cavaliers will meet again on Oct. 30.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons opened the ACC portion of their schedule Wednesday with a 3-0 road loss at the hands of in-state rival Duke. The Blue Devils won by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-22.
• Kylie Long registered a team-best 14 kills in the match, while Katie Moore had a hand in four of Wake Forest's eight blocks. Caroline Wolf led the way defensively for the Deacs with a match-best 15 digs.
Back at Home
• After going 11-6 at home last year, Wake Forest played its first nine matches of 2015 on the road. Last week, the Deacs won their home opener for the fourth-straight season, defeating Georgia in their first match of the Deacon Classic. Wake Forest split its second day of home play, defeating Hofstra in five sets before falling, 3-1, to VCU.
Leading the ACC
• Entering the weekend, Kylie Long leads the ACC with 186 kills on the season. Her 3.88 kills per set put her in a tie for third in the conference.
• Caroline Wolf is the conference's leader in digs with 241 thus far in 2015. She has averaged 4.92 digs per set, good for second in the league.
• Now in her sophomore season, Wolf has 764-career digs, the 18th-most in school history.
Scouting Virginia
• Virginia, which begins ACC play Friday night at Duke, has gone 8-3 on the season thus far. Cavalier senior Lauren Fuller goes into Friday third in the ACC with 10.25 assists per set, while fellow fourth-year teammate Natalie Bausback is tied for third in the league with 1.33 blocks per set.
The All-time Series
• Virginia goes into Saturday's match with a 25-19 edge in the all-time series between the schools. • The Cavaliers have won the teams' last three meetings, including last year's match, a 3-1 decision in Charlottesville, Va.
• The Deacons' last win over Virginia was a five-set triumph on Nov. 5, 2011 in Winston-Salem.
Next Time Out
• The Demon Deacons continue a 15-match stretch of games in the state of North Carolina next week when they face N.C. State and North Carolina on the road. They will wrap up that stretch with home meetings with Miami and Florida State Oct. 9 and 11, respectively.
