Williams Named Semifinalist for Campbell Trophy

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest senior rover Hunter Williams has been named a semifinalist for the 2015 William V. Campbell Trophy which is awarded by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame and is considered college football's prize scholar-athlete award.

Williams, a finance major from Wake Forest, North Carolina (Wake Forest-Rolesville) is a third-year starter and second-year team captain for the Demon Deacons. He has made 19 tackles through the first four games of the season and is second on the club with 3.0 tackles for loss. Williams is tied for the team lead in sacks.

A total of 135 college players were named as semifinalists for the award. That list will be narrowed down to 15 finalists on Oct. 29 and each will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. The finalists will be honored at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 8 in New York City. One finalist will be named to receive the Campbell Trophy and a $25,000 postgraduate scholarship.
