
Valerie Dahmen Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior goalkeeper Valerie Dahmen was named the ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week the league announced on Tuesday. This is the second honor of the season for Dahmen.
Dahmen led the Demon Deacons to a 2-0 week with her play in goal. On Friday, the Duisburg, Germany native, made 11 saves in a 2-1 win at No. 8 Louisville, including a stop on a penalty stroke in the final seconds of the game to preserve the victory. Of her 11 saves in the game, nine were made in the second half. Dahmen added two saves in the 2-1 win at Miami on Sunday. Her second half save came in the final seconds of the game as the Red Hawks were attempting to score the equalizer.
Dahmen shared Defensive Player of the Week honor with Syracuse's Roos Weers.
Dahmen was also named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15 after helping Wake Forest to wins against No. 4 Duke and Richmond.
