Deacs Host ITA Kick-Off Weekend
The No. 11-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team is set to host ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Sunday and Monday. The Demon Deacons will host one of 15 four-team pods, rounded out by No. 43 Tennessee, No. 54 Cal Poly and No. 59 Auburn.
All Wake Forest ITA Kick-Off Weekend matches were originally slated for Saturday and Sunday, but were moved to Sunday and Monday due to weather. The Deacs' match versus The Citadel scheduled for Sunday night was called off.
The Demon Deacons and Tigers start the weekend with an 11 a.m. match on Sunday before the Volunteers and Mustangs meet at 2 p.m.
On Monday at 2 p.m., the winners of those matches will play for a trip to the 2016 ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Charlottesville, Va. on Feb. 12-15. The non-winning teams will play a consolation match beforehand at 11 a.m.
Last Time Out
For the fifth year in a row, Wake Forest opened the season by winning its first two matches, defeating No. 75 North Florida and East Tennessee State by 8-1 scores last Saturday.
The Deacons won Nos. 2-4 doubles and Nos. 2-8 singles in both matches.
The team is coming off a 2015 season that included a school-record 24 wins, a trip to the ACC Tournament title match and the program's third Sweet 16 appearance.
Deacs in the Rankings
After a Sweet 16 run in 2015, the Demon Deacons start the season ranked No. 11, while three singles players and three doubles pairs also earned rankings. The Deacs held their team ranking after their 2-0 start.
Skander Mansouri leads a trio of Deacs in the singles rankings by checking in at No. 26. Jon Ho and Maksim Kan also earned rankings, at No. 103 and No. 110, respectively.
On the doubles side, Mansouri and Christian Seraphim rank No. 25, while Kan and Romain Bogaerts are No. 27 in the nation. To go with his singles ranking, Ho pairs with Keivon Tabrizi to rank No. 51 in doubles.
New Faces to the Program
Wake Forest welcomed freshmen Eric Rutledge and Alan Gadjiev to the fold at the start of the school year before adding Dennis Uspensky and Petros Chrysochos just prior to the spring season.
Both Uspensky and Chrysochos debuted last week. In singles, Chrysochos won at No. 2 versus North Florida and fell at No. 1 against East Tennessee State, while Uspensky won at No. 5 in both contests. Both Deacs won both of their doubles matches.

Wake Forest's match against The Citadel, originally slated for Sunday at 7:30 p.m. has been postponed.
Following Monday's ITA Kick-Off Weekend finale, the Deacons will make their first road trip of the season. They will face No. 28 Oklahoma State on Friday and second-ranked Oklahoma on Sunday.
