Deacs Finish First Day of Tennessee Fall Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On the first day of the Tennessee Fall Invite, Wake Forest women's tennis picked up four singles victories against Ohio State and earned two doubles wins over Tennessee in dual-match style action.
In singles, Anna Ulyashchenko earned a 7-5, 7-6 (5) victory over No. 79 Gabriella De Santis of Ohio State while Samantha Asch defeated OSU's 80th-ranked Olivia Sneed 6-3, 6-4. On the day, Chandler Carter also took a three-set win over Ferny Angeles Paez, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4, and Luisa Fernandez capped the day of singles with a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (7) win over Andrea Ballinger.
In first-round doubles play against Tennessee, 22nd-ranked Kimmy Guerin and Ulyashchenko paired to defeat Sadie Hammond and Gabby Schuck 6-1. In second-round play, Asch and Courtney Meredith combined to defeat Ashley Bongart and Ariadna Riley 6-2.
Wake Forest returns to action Saturday in the tournament with singles play against Arizona State and doubles play against Ohio State before closing the event Sunday with doubles action against Arizona State and singles competition against Tennessee.
