Wake Forest Returns Home
Wake Forest returns home from its four-game, all-ACC roadtrip that it split, 2-2.
The Demon Deacons begin a six-game homestand that starts with Virginia Tech and Pitt this weekend.
Long Named ACC Co-Player of the Week
Junior Kylie Long was named ACC Co-Player of the Week for Oct. 3 after a stellar ACC weekend complete with two double-doubles. Long was one kill shy of reaching her career-high at Notre Dame and now leads the squad with 243 kills.
Freshman Caroline Rassenfoss was named ACC Freshman of the Week last week. This is the first season since 2011 that the Deacs have received two-plus weekly conference honors.
Series Notes
The Deacs have historically struggled against the Hokies, trailing 12-29 in the series. Virginia Tech is on a two-match winning streak over the Deacs and Wake Forest hasn't defeated the Hokies since Oct. 6, 2006.
Pittsburgh leads the Demon Deacons, 4-0, in the budding rivalry. The Panthers have swept the Deacs in their last two matchups.
Last Time Out
The Deacs went 1-1 on their last roadtrip to Louisville and Notre Dame.
Wake Forest defeated Louisville, 3-1, on Friday. The Deacs' swung a .253 hitting percentage with 63 kills. Bailey Shurbet recorded career-highs in kills and digs while Gabby Howard tallied career-highs in kills, digs and blocks.
The Deacs fought against Notre Dame on Sunday but ultimately fell, 1-3. The Deacs recorded a season-high 20.0 total team blocks, including 10 by Katie Moore, eight from Caitlyn Della and six from Hanna Lee. Caitlyn Della also set a career-high with 12 kills.
Next Up
The Deacs remain at home through Oct. 28.
Wake Forest plays Duke for the final time this season on Wednesday, Oct. 12. The game can be viewed on RSN and ACCN Extra.
The Deacs then play Virginia, Georgia Tech and Clemson at home.
