TULSA, Okla. -- Wake Forest men's tennis student-athletes will make up a quarter of the semifinalists at the ITA All-American Championships, as Petros Chrysochos became one of four singles semifinalists and the duo of Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim are two of the eight doubles players to reach the semis.
On Saturday, Chrysochos started his day with a back-and-forth victory over No. 45-ranked Jose Salazar of Arkansas, needing two tiebreaks to win 7-6 (1), 4-6, 7-6 (4).
He followed that up with an upset of the top-ranked player in the country in the quarterfinal, breezing past Ohio State's Mikael Torpegaard in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Mansouri and Seraphim dominated their doubles quarterfinal from start to finish, taking down Notre Dame's No. 26-ranked pairing of Edward Covalschi and Josh Hager, 6-0, 6-1.
Both Mansouri and Seraphim bowed out in the round of 16 in singles action Saturday, though. Ohio State's No. 33-ranked Hugo Di Feo edged Mansouri in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. Fifth-ranked Chris Eubanks of Georgia Tech defeated Seraphim, 6-4, 6-3.
Wake Forest is the only school to have representatives remaining in both singles and doubles play.
