Wake Forest Hosts SIUE in Sweet 16
Back in the Sweet 16 for the second year in a row and seventh time since 2006, Wake Forest is set to host SIUE on Sunday, Nov. 27, at 5 p.m. at Spry Stadium. First kick is set for 5 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN3.
The Demon Deacons earned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and earned a first-round bye with the seed. In two seasons under Bobby Muuss, Wake Forest has now been the No. 1 overall seed and No. 2 overall seed.
Ticket Information
Tickets at Spry Stadium are priced at $5 for general admission. Tickets for seniors are set at $3 and Wake Forest student tickets are $1. Children three and under are admitted free. Admission onto Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill is priced the same as tickets inside the stadium.
The first 300 students on the hill with their student ID will receive free admission to the game.
Last Time Out
After struggling early on against Coastal Carolina, Wake Forest broke the scoreless tie in the 20th minute when Ema Twumasi lifted a pass to Jacori Hayes over the CCU back line and Hayes finished the chance to get the Demon Deacons off and running on the way to a 2-0 victory in the second round.
Luis Argudo doubled the Demon Deacon advantage in the 62nd minute when he stole the ball from a Chanticleer defender just outside the CCU penalty area and created a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper that he finished for his first-career goal as a Demon Deacon.
Andreu Cases Mundet made his first start since shutting out Virginia on Sept. 10 after Alec Ferrell suffered an injury in warmups. Cases Mundet made two saves and posted his third shutout in five games played this year.
Scouting the Cougars
One of the underdogs of the NCAA Tournament thus far as one of four unseeded teams remaining, SIUE has advanced past Michigan State in the first round and No. 15 seed Butler in the second round. Both games went to penalty kicks and both times the Cougars came out on top, beating Michigan State in East Lansing 9-8 in PKs and Butler in Indianapolis 5-4 in penalties.
Champions of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, SIUE enters with a record of 10-4-7 on the season. The Cougars have been tested multiple times throughout the year in tying both Notre Dame and Kentucky in preseason exhibitions and beating Ohio State in Columbus to end September.
In the MVC Tournament, SIUE defeated Evansville 2-1 before topping Missouri State 1-0 in the championship match.
SIUE is led by Devyn Jambga's six goals and 15 points on the season. He is closely followed by Austin Ledbetter's five goals. SIUE has scored 23 goals thus far this year, but has allowed just 15, which stands tied for 16th in the nation for the category. The Cougars have allowed just six goals in 13 games since the start of October and have not allowed more than one goal in a game since winning 3-2 at Ohio State on Sept. 28.
Captain Hayes
Senior captain Jacori Hayes has scored the game-winning goal in three of Wake Forest's four postseason games this season.
He netted the winner against Notre Dame on Nov. 6, the winner in the ACC Tournament title game against Clemson and the winner last time out against Coastal Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Hayes has scored a career-high eight goals this season and has doubled up the totals of the three players (Harkes, Bakero, Twumasi) tied for second on the team with four apiece.
In the last two seasons, Hayes has scored 13 goals with 10 going down as game-winners.

Media Policies
All media planning to attend the NCAA Tournament in Winston-Salem must request a credential from Andrew Wilson of the Wake Forest Athletic Communications office. All approved credentials will be left at the credential table at the main gate of Spry Stadium and can be picked up on the day of the game. Space in the press box at Spry Stadium is limited, but there is a row of media seating reserved in front of the press box that runs the length of the row that can accommodate media members.
Postgame interviews will be held on the Spry Stadium practice field behind the main concourse or on the field and will be determined during the second half of the game. Coaches and requested players will have a 10-minute "cooling off" period before interviews will be held.
