KANSAS CITY -- Three members of the Wake Forest men's soccer team -- Ian Harkes, Jacori Hayes and Alec Ferrell -- were named First Team NSCAA All-South Region honorees on Tuesday afternoon. The three honorees marks the most of any program in the South Region to make the top team.

All three individuals make up the team's core of captains and all three were also named First Team All-ACC last month. Harkes was also named the ACC's Midfielder of the Year. Tuesday's announcement comes ahead of Friday's announcement of the NSCAA All-America teams.

Hayes currently leads the team with eight goals on the season and has started all 23 games. Harkes has notched a career-high four goals on the campaign and helped engineer Wake Forest's longest shutout streak in program history, which went seven-straight games in September and lasted 855:46 of game action. Though starting the season sidelined due to injury, Ferrell made his debut in mid-September and has been outstanding between the pipes in going 11-1-3 with eight shutouts in 15 games. His 0.51 goals against average is currently 0.01 behind Brian Edwards' program record of 0.50, set in 2007.

A season ago, Jack Harrison was the only representative for Wake Forest on the All-South Region First Team. Harkes and Hayes were joined in 2015 as Second Team honorees by former standout Michael Gamble.

The Deacon trio is joined on the team by fellow ACC standouts Tim Kubel of Louisville, Miles Robinson of Syracuse, Brandon Aubrey of Notre Dame, Cam Lindley of North Carolina, Edward Opoku of Virginia and Marcelo Acuna of Virginia Tech.

Wake Forest is set to compete in the College Cup on Friday, Dec. 9, in the national semifinals against sixth-seeded Denver. First kick is set for 6 p.m. EST and the game, called by Glenn Davis and Kate Markgraf, will air on ESPNU. Should Wake Forest, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, advance to Sunday's national championship game, the Demon Deacons would take on fifth-seeded Stanford or ninth-seeded North Carolina at 2 p.m. EST on ESPNU.
