Wake Forest Head Coach Danny Manning

Opening Statement:
"I though Charlotte came out, in the first four minutes of the game, being much more active than us. They got three offensive rebounds and created some havoc for us. I think after that four minute mark we did a much better job defensively. I give them credit because Mark (Price) had them ready from the get go. That put us in a situation where we got off to a slower start than we would have liked. I think after the four minute stretch in the first half we were good defensively. We held them to 33 percent in field go percentage, which is good. Second half was a completely different story. They were able to execute their offense, attack the paint and they won the second half by one point. I give them credit for going out executing and playing hard. We have to have a better showing in the second half defensively."

On improving…
"We are a work in progress, and we need to continue to get better. I do think we did some good things. I thought we didn't settle for too many contested jump shots. I thought a couple guys shot some early contested shots on the shock clock. With 14 3-pointers tonight that is one of the least amounts we've had this year. I thought we did a good job of making a concerted effort of trying to get a post catch or a paint touch."

On John Collins
"This is one of the first games, John has played defensively, staying out of harm's way in the first half. He did some really good things for us. He's been actively shooting free throws well. He went and got some real rebounds in traffic. He was very efficient, 7 for 11. This was a really good game for him in 21 minutes."

On the team's performance while in the lead…
"When you go out there the natural tendency is to relax a little bit and get comfortable. We don't want our guys to relax or get comfortable. We want them to continue to push and challenge. That just has to be the mindset that you have. When you get to our league play and let someone get momentum it's hard to slow them down."

On the game tonight vs. Charlotte, his former team…
"I knew for sure I didn't want to lose to them. If we had lost, that would've been a lot of heat coming my way, so I couldn't let that happen. I don't think I was nervous, I don't think I was pressed either. I just played with the flow of the game, played with the flow of my teammates and got a win."

On the effort to work the offense inside…
"We had mismatches. We wanted to make sure we fed Konstantinos Mitoglou, Doral Moore, John Collins and make sure we exploited the mismatches."

Wake Forest's John Collins

On how he handled Charlotte's double team tonight…
"Coach [Manning] puts me in a lot of trap situations in practice. He says, since my production has been going well, teams are going to start doubling, so I have to be prepared to move and work out of the trap. I think I did a solid job tonight. I just have to keep on working."

On the altercation between the two teams in the second half...
"Just some competitive nature. The fire in both of us got the best of us and things just flared up a bit. It happens when two teams are competing as hard as we were tonight. We just have to move on from it. Coach [Manning] told us to be smart with our actions. We can't afford for Bryant [Crawford] and myself to get into stupid altercations like that. It's something to learn from."

Charlotte Head Coach Mark Price

Opening Statement:
"We have to give credit to Wake Forest. They came out and jumped on us early and we were never able to cover. I thought the second half was a little better but you go on the road against a good team like this and you can't dig yourself into a hole. Unfortunately, we did that tonight and we weren't able to recover."

On tonight's matchup...
"Collins is a handful. We knew he was going to be for us with his size and athleticism. We didn't have an answer for him. We tried some different things but we got into foul trouble early and that put us in a tough spot. It was a difficult matchup for us but really I felt like it was more self-inflicted on our part with turnovers that led to fast break baskets, things that you just cant do if you want to have a chance on the road. Wake Forest was doing what they had to do but we did some things that, I think, hurt ourselves more than anything the first 10 minutes of the game."

On their scoring droughts...
A lot of it is making shots. We got some good shots most of the game but we have to start making them. We have 10, 11 days now before our next game. Our guys have finals coming up but we'll have six or seven practices before our next game. That will help people work on some things, get these guys in the gym, get some shots in. We'll look as a staff too at things we can do to help offensively. Right now it's not working for us. Again, it was a difficult matchup for us. Everything we did didn't work.
