Deacs Finish Third at Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. – The Wake Forest men's golf team concluded its first event of the spring with Tuesday's final round of the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate at Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Club. The Demon Deacons finished the event in third place at 8-under.
Wake Forest concluded the tournament with its best round of the event, a 7-under round of 281. All five Demon Deacons shot par or better during Tuesday's round.
"We were better each round, which is what we are all about right now," said head coach Jerry Haas. "It was nice to throw out a 72 today and I am happy with the improvement we had every day."
Senior Davis Womble led the Deacs with his first top-five finish of the year, tying for third at 5-under. He concluded play with a final round 69 on Tuesday.
Will Zalatoris again finished in the top 10, as he has in all six tournaments this season. The sophomore shot a 3-under round of 69 on Tuesday to finish T-8th at 4-under.
Paul McBride had even-par round of 72 to finish T-12th at 2-under. Kyle Sterbinsky had a final round 71 to finish T-43rd at 5-over. Cameron Young bounced back on Tuesday with a final round 72 to finish at 9-over for the tournament.
The Demon Deacons return to action Sunday as they travel south of the border for the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico.
