Wake Forest Hosts Hokies on Senior Night
• Looking to rebound from its first loss since Jan. 31, Wake Forest will host Virginia Tech Thursday night at 7 p.m. inside LJVM Coliseum.
• Prior to tip, Wake Forest will hold a pregame ceremony to honor the program's seniors. The list scheduled to be honored includes players Kandice Ball, Ataijah Taylor and Keyonna Allen, student assistant coach Keri Fulp and managers Taylor Lyons, Ashley Malachi and Cherina McKnight.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest had its four-game winning streak snapped by No. 2 Notre Dame last Thursday. The Irish jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire for the win.
• Though Wake Forest shot 37.7 percent in the game, Notre Dame shot a scorching 56.5 percent from the floor, hitting 35-of-62 attempted shots.
• Ariel Stephenson led Wake Forest in scoring for the ninth time in her career, notching 17 points. Elisa Penna was the only other Deac to score in double figures, scoring 10 in the contest.
Scouting the Hokies
• Though Virginia Tech has lost each of its last four since beating rival Virginia on Feb. 7, the Hokies have been in each contest. Last time out, the Hokies took No. 18 Miami to overtime in Coral Gables before falling 67-56.
• During the four-game losing skid, Virginia Tech has lost by an average of 7.5 points against North Carolina (71-67), Pittsburgh (59-48), Duke (66-62) and Miami.
• Hannah Young is Virginia Tech's leading scorer with an average of 10.5 points per contest. She's closely followed by Sydney Cook with 10.3 points per game.
Queens of the State
• After beating Duke on Feb. 14, Wake Forest has now beat Duke, North Carolina and NC State in the same season for just the second time in program history. The first occurrence came during the 1987-88 season.
Series History
• In 23 all-time matchups against the Hokies dating back to 1978, Wake Forest holds a slim 12-11 lead. Though Virginia Tech has won three of the last four, the Deacs overall have won seven of the last 10.
• Wake Forest holds the longest winning streak in the series, coming out victorious in six-straight games from Jan. 7, 2010 to March 1, 2012.
• In the lone meeting between the two last season, Virginia Tech jumped on the Deacs early and took a 21-point lead to halftime. Though Wake Forest cut a 24-point deficit back to single digits in the second half, Virginia Tech held on for a 76-59 win, the Hokies first ACC win of 2014-15.
Next Time Out
• Wake Forest closes the regular season Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. on the road against Georgia Tech at McCamish Pavilion.
• Sunday's game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
• The ACC Tournament will get started in Greensboro, N.C., on Wednesday, March 2, at the Greensboro Coliseum.
• Currently, Wake Forest is tied with Georgia Tech for eighth place. Seed Nos. 10-15 will play on March 2 in the first round before Nos. 5-9 start Thursday, March 3, in the second round.
