Deacs Go For Fourth Win in Last Six vs. NC State
• Wake Forest looks for its fourth win in the last six games Sunday afternoon against in-state rival NC State on National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
• The Deacs and Wolfpack are set to tip off at 3 p.m. inside LJVM Coliseum with the contest airing on RSN.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest earned a third ACC win with a 60-49 victory over Pittsburgh. The win eclipses 2014-15 when the Deacs went 2-14 in ACC play.
• In the first half, Wake Forest went on two double-digit runs to take a seven-point lead to halftime. The 14-1 run in the first quarter and a 12-2 run spanning the first two quarters proved vital in the11-point victory.
• While Ariel Stephenson scored a team-high 16 points to lead the Deacs for the third game in a row, Milan Quinn earned her sixth double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Amber Campbell posted 15 points.
• The Deacs had their best shooting night of the season, knocking down 23-of-49 shots for a 46.9 percentage while going 6-of-15 from long range.
Scouting the Wolfpack
• NC State had a three-game winning streak snapped Thursday night at No. 3 Notre Dame, 82-46.
• Reigning ACC Player of the Week Dominique Wilson leads NC State with 16.3 points per contest. The Wolfpack's other two double-digit scorers are Miah Spencer (13.2 ppg) and Jennifer Mathurin (10.9 ppg).
Series History
• Sunday's game marks the second matchup of the season between the two teams with NC State taking the first matchup 64-47 on Jan. 3 in Wake Forest's ACC opener.
• Overall, NC State leads the series 67-13 and has won each of the last six contests dating back to Feb. 3, 2013. Wake Forest's last win came on Jan. 6, 2013, in a 69-56 victory at home against the Wolfpack.
• In the first game between the two, Ariel Stephenson led a trio of Deacs scoring in double figures as the freshman finished with 14, Amber Campbell posted 13 and Ataijah Taylor had 10.
• NC State used a 17-5 second quarter to pull away from the Deacs in the first meeting. The Deacs outscored NC State 30-28 in the second half.
Deacs on Super Bowl Sunday
• In 17 games played on Super Bowl Sunday, Wake Forest is 5-12 but is 4-3 in the last seven dating back to the 2008-09 season.
• Last season, Wake Forest lost on the road against Notre Dame but the Deacs beat No. 23/25 Florida State in 2013-14 by the score of 78-54.
• Wake Forest and NC State have met once before on Super Bowl Sunday with Wake Forest falling 64-55 on Feb. 3, 2013.
• Last time the Carolina Panthers were in the Super Bowl on Feb. 1, 2004, Wake Forest lost 62-61 at home against Virginia on the same day.
