LOS CABOS, Mexico – The Wake Forest men's golf team concluded play Tuesday at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate at Los Cabos Querencia. The Deacons shot a final round 301 and finished in 14th place at 33-over.
The tournament marked the first time in seven events this season that the Demon Deacons finished outside the top three.
"We can't wait until our next tournament at the Schenkel," said head coach Jerry Haas. "There are no excuses for our play here as we hit too many balls into the desert. Any marginal shot was compounded this week and from what I saw, we weren't sharp. Little things add up on a course like this, but we will play well at the Schenkel."
Senior Davis Womble was the low Deac for the tournament, finishing T-34th at 6-over after a final round 76. Lee Detmer had the low round of the day on Tuesday for the team, shooting 73 to finish T-41st at 7-over.
Paul McBride finished T-46th at 8-over after a final round 75 and Cameron Young shot 77 to finish 69th at 17-over. Wake Forest had just four players competing Tuesday as All-American Will Zalatoris withdrew due to injury during Monday's second round.
The Deacons will return to action with the Schenkel Invitational, March 18-20 in Statesboro, Ga.
