Wake Forest Shuts Out Notre Dame, Morehead State

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The ninth-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team posted a pair of 7-0 shutout victories indoors at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Demon Deacons began the day by blanking ACC foe, No. 38-ranked Notre Dame before taking down Morehead State in the second match.
The Deacons, now 18-4 overall on the season with a 3-1 ACC mark, have tied a school record with five-consecutive shutout victories. The Deacs also began the 1997 season with five shutouts in a row.

Playing at full strength for the first time in six matches, the Demon Deacons came out strong in the doubles competition. No. 19 Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim and Petros Chrysochos and Jon Ho earned 6-2 wins at the top two positions, respectively.
Ho and Chrysochos topped 71st-ranked Grayson Broadus and Quentin Monaghan for their third win against a ranked tandem.
In singles, Seraphim continued his torrid run with his sixth straight-set triumph in a row, downing Daniel Rayl, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6. Chrysochos put the Deacs on the cusp of a win with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Eddy Covalschi at No. 2 to make it 3-0.
Dennis Uspensky locked down the team's third conference victory by holding off Grayson Broadus in a 6-4, 6-4 decision at No. 5. To complete the shutout, Ho won at No. 3, Romain Bogaerts won in his return to the lineup at No. 4 and Mansouri doubled up No. 42 Quentin Monaghan, 10-5, in a match tiebreaker after dropping his first set.
Mansouri, holding a career-best singles ranking of No. 19, has now taken down five ranked singles opponents in dual-match play.

To close out its Sunday, Wake Forest jumped ahead of non-conference visitor Morehead State with wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles positions. Dennis Uspensky and Romain Bogaerts clinched the point in the top spot after Skander Mansouri and Anthony Delcore rolled to a 6-1 win at No. 3.
Delcore and Uspensky quickly made it 3-0 in singles, posting 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at the No. 6 and No. 3 flights, respectively.
After having their match at No. 2 doubles stopped short as a pair, both Sam Bloom and Keivon Tabrizi helped make the Deacon win official with singles wins. Bloom won at No. 5 seconds before Tabrizi wrapped up a victory at No. 4.
To close out the dual match, Jon Ho picked up the 99th singles win of his career at No. 2 and Bogaerts earned his 95th-career victory at No. 1.
