ATLANTA –
The 22nd-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team could not capitalize on a doubles competition victory, falling, 5-2, on the road to No. 34 Georgia Tech at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The Demon Deacons, who lost to No. 4 North Carolina on Friday, dropped consecutive matches for the first time all season to fall to 12-4 and 2-3 in the ACC. The Deacs are now 4-4 on the year against ranked opponents.

Luisa Fernandez and Andrea Retolaza Andrade sparked a positive start for the Deacons, winning by a score of 6-2 at No. 3 doubles. The Yellow Jackets answered with a 6-3 victory by No. 21-ranked Kendal Woodard Paige Hourigan, but Wake Forest seized the match's first point when Emma Davis and Samantha Asch completed a 6-3 triumph of their own at No. 2.

The tables turned in singles as Georgia Tech raced out to a 3-1 lead using straight-set wins at position Nos. 3, 4 and 6.

Asch provided a glimmer of hope for the Deacs with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5, but No. 36 Johnnise Renaud completed a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 comeback victory against the No. 50-ranked Kimmy Guerin to seal the result. Alexis Prokopuik made it a 5-2 Yellow Jacket final with a straight-set win at No. 6.

The win gave Georgia Tech a 9-5 record overall with a 4-1 mark in ACC competition.

The Demon Deacons end a three-match road swing on Friday at No. 40 Notre Dame before opening a four-match homestand with a doubleheader against 10th-ranked Virginia and East Carolina on Sunday.
