WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Michael Gamble, a four-year standout for Wake Forest men's soccer, has signed a contract with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer after being selected by the team 30th overall in January's MLS SuperDraft.
Gamble had a stellar preseason with the Revs, appearing in all four of New England's preseason matches while scoring a goal along the way. Gamble will have the chance to play with and learn from a wealth of midfielders with New England in Diego Fagundez, Kelyn Rowe, Juan Agudelo and Teal Bunbury.
"We're all extremely proud of Michael for signing his deal with New England," said Wake Forest head coach Bobby Muuss. "Michael has meant so much to our program for the last four years and to see all of his hard work on and off the field pay off with his first professional contract, we all couldn't be more proud of him."
In his four years at Wake Forest, Gamble scored 24 goals and had 20 assists in 60 games. He finished his career in the fall tied for No. 9 in program history with 68 points and is tied for No. 13 in program history for goals and assists.
Gamble was one of two Wake Forest players drafted in January. Jack Harrison was picked first overall by the Chicago Fire before being traded to New York City FC on draft day. Matt Turner, formerly a goalkeeper at Fairfield University, was also signed to the team with Gamble.
