Deacs Wrap Up 13-Match Homestand
After an 18-4 start, No. 10 Wake Forest finishes a season-long, 13-match homestand on Sunday with matches against Clemson and South Carolina State.
The Demon Deacons are slated to take on the Tigers at 1 p.m. before facing the Bulldogs at 5 p.m.
Last Time Out
Playing without senior All-American Romain Bogaerts, Wake Forest won two home matches last Friday, blanking both Pfeiffer and Boston College by scores of 7-0. The Deacs then shut out No. 38 Notre Dame and Morehead State on Sunday in Bogaerts' return.
The Deacs have now recorded five-consecutive shutout wins for the second time in school history. They started the 1997 with five-straight shutouts.
The wins over Boston College and Notre Dame gave Wake Forest a 3-1 record in ACC play and the win over the Irish was its 11th win of the year against a ranked foe.
Cumulatively, the Demon Deacons are now 101-21 in singles, led by 15 wins from Dennis Uspensky and 14 apiece from Romain Bogaerts and Christian Seraphim.
Deacs in the Top 10
After a strong start to the season, the Deacons moved in to the top 10 of the national rankings for the first time since 2007. Their No. 5 ranking held the weeks of Feb. 17 and Feb. 23 was their highest in program history.
Wake Forest began the season with its highest preseason ranking in program history at No. 11 after making its third Sweet 16 appearance a year ago.
Mansouri Moves Up
Skander Mansouri has had a strong start to the spring, going 11-2 in singles, including 6-2 at No. 1, 4-0 at No. 2 and 5-1 against ranked opponents.
The sophomore has won the ACC Player of the Week two times and now has the highest singles rankings of his career at No. 19.
Paired with Christian Seraphim, Mansouri is also No. 19 in doubles. The duo is 10-5 at the No. 1 position with five wins against ranked tandems.
Also ranked in singles for the Deacons is Petros Chrysochos, who checks in at No. 45 after an 11-2 start. Romain Bogaerts and Maksim Kan have not played together in the spring, but are ranked 41st in doubles.
Deacs at the Davis Cup
Demon Deacon freshman Petros Chrysochos and sophomore Skander Mansouri both competed for their respective countries at the Davis Cup in mid-March.
Representing Cyprus, Chrysochos went 4-0 in singles to help his country advance from Europe Zone Group III to Europe Zone Group II.
Mansouri dropped his lone match for Tunisia, a five-set doubles contest.
Up Next
Wake Forest will resume play with four-consecutive ACC matches on the road against Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.
The Deacs will celebrate Senior Day against Duke on April 9 before closing the regular season with road contests against Virginia and Louisville.
