Mansouri Picks Up Third ACC Weekly Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest men's tennis sophomore Skander Mansouri was named the ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, the conference announced.
Mansouri earned the honor for the third time in his career with all three awards having come this season. No other player in the conference has won the accolade more than once in 2016.
Last week, Mansouri defeated two ranked singles opponents and a had a ranked doubles win with Christian Seraphim on the road to help Wake Forest win its eighth- and ninth-consecutive matches in a row. That streak matches the team's longest since 2002.
After dropping a doubles match against No. 64 Miami on Friday, the Tunis, Tunisia native posted a straight-set singles win over No. 38 Piotr Lomacki to help the Deacs record their school-record eighth shutout win in a row.
On Sunday against a 20th-ranked Florida State squad that entered the contest with a 10-0 record at home, Mansouri paired with Seraphim to down No. 11 Benjamin Lock and Marco Nunez in doubles. The win improved the No. 12-ranked duo's record to 12-6 at the No. 1 position with six victories against ranked opponents.
In singles, Mansouri dispatched the No. 12-ranked Lock in straight sets to up his dual match singles record to 14-2, including 7-1 against ranked individuals. Riding a nine-match win streak, he is now 26-5 overall in singles in 2015-16 and owns a career-high ranking of No. 16.
The Demon Deacons wrap up a four-match road swing this weekend with a trip to No. 45 Virginia Tech on Friday and a visit to top-ranked North Carolina on Sunday. They will return home for Senior Day on April 9 when they host No. 75 Duke.
