CARY, N.C. – Due to heavy rain in the Triangle area, the afternoon matches of the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Championships will be played indoors. Second-seeded Wake Forest and seventh-seeded Notre Dame will now play their ACC Tournament quarterfinal match Friday at 2:30 p.m. indoors at North Carolina's Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center, based on mutual agreement by both head coaches.
The match may begin earlier based on coaches' decision.
Doubles play had just begun between the Demon Deacons and Fighting Irish at Cary Tennis Park, the match's original location, when it started to rain. No. 1 and No. 2 doubles were tied, 1-1, and the Deacs had a 1-0 lead at the No. 3 position.
Admission to all of Friday's indoor matches is free. Barring further inclement weather, Cary Tennis Park is scheduled to be the host site for Saturday's semifinal rounds and Sunday's championship matches.
