Wake Forest To Face Virginia in ACC Final
• Seventh-ranked and second-seeded Wake Forest will take on top-ranked and top-seeded Virginia in Sunday ACC Tournament championship match.
• First serve is slated for 2 p.m. at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. The match will air on ESPN3 with Patrick McEnroe, Paul Torricelli and Brian Clark on the call.
• The Cavaliers won both regular-season meetings between the teams, 4-3 on Feb. 13 in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship quarterfinals and 5-2 on April 15. Both matches were played in Charlottesville, Va. Virginia also defeated Wake Forest, 4-2, in last year's ACC title match. The Deacs are looking for their first win over UVA since 2003.
• Wake Forest is seeking its first ACC championship in its seventh conference title match.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons reached the final by defeating seventh-seeded Notre Dame, 4-3, on Friday in Chapel Hill and sixth-seeded Virginia Tech, 4-2, on Saturday in Cary.
Regular-Season Highlights
• Wake Forest set school records with 26 wins overall and 10 wins in the ACC. The Deacs' second-place conference finish is their best since 1981. They now have 28 wins.
• The Demon Deacons went 5-2 against teams ranked sixth or higher. Entering the season, they had five wins over top-10 opponents since 2000.
• Among the Deacs' notable wins were victories over top-ranked North Carolina and No. 2 Oklahoma. The two victories were the highest-ranked wins ever for the team. Both triumphs came on the road.
• Wake Forest qualified for its first-ever ITA National Team Indoor Championships tournament. The Deacons went 2-1 at the event in Charlottesville, defeating both Oklahoma and USC, the tournament's finalists in 2015.
100-Win Clubs
• Seniors Jon Ho and Romain Bogaerts became the sixth and seventh players in program history, respectively, to reach 100-career wins in singles.
• Ho reached the milestone on March 20 against Clemson and has added victories over Miami and Duke since. Bogaerts reached the plateau on Senior Day last week against Duke, clinching the victory for the Deacs.
• Fifth-year Demon Deacon head coach Tony Bresky won his 100th match at Wake Forest on Friday is now has a 101-51 record at the school. Bresky's first recruiting class, this year's senior class, is the winningest in school history at 87-36.
Deacs in the Top 10
• After a strong start to the season, the Deacons moved into the top 10 of the national rankings for the first time since 2007. Their No. 5 ranking held the weeks of Feb. 17 and Feb. 23 was the highest in program history. They are currently ranked seventh.
• Wake Forest began the season with its highest preseason ranking in program history at No. 11 after making its third Sweet 16 appearance a year ago.
Deacs at the Davis Cup
• Demon Deacon freshman Petros Chrysochos and sophomore Skander Mansouri both competed for their respective countries at the Davis Cup in mid-March.
• Representing Cyprus, Chrysochos went 4-0 in singles to help his country advance from Europe Zone Group III to Europe Zone Group II.
• Mansouri dropped his lone match for Tunisia, a five-set doubles contest.
