AWENDAW, S.C. – The Wake Forest men's golf team moved up to second place during second round play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Club. The Demon Deacons moved up one place by shooting 3-under during Monday's round and are at 7-under for the tournament with one round remaining.
The Demon Deacons enter the final round trailing South Carolina, who has the 36-hole lead at 15-under par. Wake Forest has a two-shot advantage over College of Charleston, who is third at 5-under.
"The conditions were very windy again today and we let a solid round get away from us," said head coach Jerry Haas. "We have a chance to win as we are only eight shots back and a lot can happen on this course."
Will Zalatoris tied the low round of the day with a 5-under 67 and is tied for third on the individual leaderboard at 5-under for the tournament. Davis Womble is also in the top 10, T-9th at 2-under after an even par round of 72. Cameron Young and Paul McBride each had 1-over par rounds of 73 on Monday to round out the scoring four for the Demon Deacons.
The tournament concludes Tuesday at the Bulls Bay Golf Club.
