AWENDAW, S.C. – The Wake Forest men's golf team finished fourth at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate as play concluded Tuesday at Bulls Bay Golf Club. The Demon Deacons shot 7-over during the final round and finished the tournament at even par.
"As a group, we needed to score better today," said head coach Jerry Haas. "When each player throws away 3-5 shots in a round, that is tough to overcome when you add up the team score. It was another windy day today, but we will learn from this. We are looking forward to the event at Irish Creek this weekend."
South Carolina won the tournament at 23-under. College of Charleston was the runner-up at 8-under, followed by Auburn at 3-under and the Demon Deacons.
Wake Forest was led by Will Zalatoris, who finished T-6th at 2-under for the tournament after a final round 75. It was his seventh top-10 finish of the season.
Lee Detmer had the best round of the day for the Demon Deacons, shooting an even-par round of 72. He finished T-44th at 6-over.
Cameron Young and Davis Womble were T-19th at 1-over for the event, while Paul McBride finished T-33rd at 3-over.
The Demon Deacons conclude their regular season schedule this weekend with the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, N.C. The tournament will run Saturday-Sunday at The Club at Irish Creek.
