KANNAPOLIS, N.C – The Wake Forest men's golf team is in second place after two rounds at the Cabarrus County Irish Creek Collegiate following a windy day at The Club at Irish Creek. The Demon Deacons shot 3-over during Saturday morning's first round before going 3-under during the afternoon round.

Wake Forest is at even par and trails Kennesaw State by one shot heading into Sunday's final round. The Demon Deacons lead third place VCU by five strokes.

"What a tough, cold day of golf," said head coach Jerry Haas. "We lost a few strokes at the end, but it was still a very solid team round. It was windy and cold, but the team fought hard. We are in the final group tomorrow, which is where we want to be."

The Deacs were led by Will Zalatoris during Saturday's rounds, as he is T-2nd at 3-under. After starting the day with a 3-over round of 74, he rebounded with a second round 65, the best round of the day in the field.

Davis Womble is also in the individual top 10, finishing Saturday T-9th at even par after back-to-back rounds of 71.

Kyle Sterbinsky is T-17 at 2-over, posting a second-round 71 after a 2-over 73 earlier in the day. Cameron Young had rounds of 71 and 74 to finish the day T-19th at 3-over. Paul McBride is T-25th at 5-over after recording rounds of 72 and 75.

The tournament concludes Sunday with the third round at The Club at Irish Creek.
