WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – From June 13-19, the Wake Forest Tennis Complex will host the Wake Forest Futures Tournament, a $25,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Event.
The main singles draw will be 32 players with the qualifying draw consisting of 64 athletes. The main draw will start next Tuesday and will run through Sunday after qualifying takes place Saturday through Monday. The doubles main draw will include 16 tandems and will take place next Tuesday through Friday.
The ITF provides the entry level of professional tournaments enabling players to eventually reach the higher-level tournaments on the ATP World Tour. The ITF Men's Circuit offers more than 600 tournaments across 77 countries, including events known as Futures that are played over the course of a single week and offer different amounts of prize money.
Four players with Demon Deacons appeared in the Wake Forest Futures Tournament last season. Former Deacs Jon Ho and Noah Rubin reached the second round of the main draw in singles, while Dennis Uspensky fell in the opening round of the main draw. Maksim Kan won twice, but was one victory shy of making it out of qualifying.
In doubles, Ho and Rubin played together and Kan and Uspensky formed a duo. Ho and Rubin reached the semifinal round.
